The short answer
Lead with the car and the price, give one reason to come see it, and end with how to reach you. Keep hashtags to five: Instagram now caps a post at five.
- First line: the car and the price. It’s what shows before “more”.
- One reason to come see it, in plain words.
- Five hashtags at most, since Instagram’s December 2025 change.
The shape of a caption that sells a car
- Step 1
The car and the price
“Just arrived: 2019 Cadillac XT4 Luxury, $32,995.”
- Step 2
One line on why
“One owner, no accidents, heated seats.”
- Step 3
How to reach you
“Message us to book a test drive.” StudioOS writes these three lines for each post, from what you typed.
- Step 4
Up to five hashtags
Your town, the make, the kind of car, and the post.
In BC, if a caption shows a price, show the total price, the same number as in the picture. Not legal advice.

Hashtags: five at most
In December 2025, Instagram said it would cap hashtags at five a post or reel, rolling out gradually, and that fewer, more targeted hashtags work better. Pick five: your city or region, the kind of car, the make, the post, and your dealership.
