Comparison, Canada

Kijiji vs Facebook Marketplace vs AutoTrader.ca: where should dealers list?

Three places Canadians shop for cars, and three different deals for a dealer. Here is how they compare, from what each one says about itself.

The short answer

List on more than one. AutoTrader.ca and Kijiji are built for dealers, with dealer accounts and inventory feeds, but neither publishes a dealer price. Facebook Marketplace is where many local buyers start, but a dealership’s Page can’t list cars there; you reach it with ads.

  • AutoTrader.ca: 26 million monthly visits and 5,000 dealer partners, by its owner’s count (2024).
  • Kijiji: over three million visitors a month to cars and vehicles, by its own count.
  • Marketplace: no listings from dealership Pages since January 30, 2023.

Reach is each company’s own figure: AutoScout24’s August 2024 release for AutoTrader.ca, Kijiji’s Help Centre for Kijiji. They count different things, so compare them loosely. Checked October 24, 2026.

AutoTrader.ca: the car marketplace

AutoTrader.ca belongs to TRADER, founded in 1975 and based in Toronto, which agreed to be bought by AutoScout24 in August 2024. With its French-language twin AutoHebdo.net, its owner counted 26 million monthly visits, more than 450,000 vehicle listings and 5,000 dealer partners. People there have come to buy a car, not to browse. The trade-off: a dealer’s price is a conversation with sales, not a page.

Kijiji: the classifieds Canadians already use

Kijiji calls its cars and vehicles section the most visited automotive site in Canada, with over three million visitors a month. On October 24, 2026 it showed 136,600 cars and trucks for sale across Canada, from private sellers and dealers together. A dealer subscription feeds your inventory in, bumps listings back up after 30 days and gives you a branded dealership page; those features need a dealer account.

Facebook Marketplace: big, but not for dealership Pages

Marketplace is where many local buyers start. But since January 30, 2023 a dealership’s Facebook Page can’t list vehicles there, in Canada or the US. What’s left for a dealer: paid ads, and the store’s own posts and reels, which reach the same people without being Marketplace listings. Can car dealers post on Facebook Marketplace?

One shoot, every site

Each site shows pictures in its own shape, and none of them wants a different car. Shoot the car once, then make each post in the shape each place shows best.

  • Listing sites and your website: 4:3.
  • Facebook and Instagram feeds: square, or 4:5 for the most of the screen.
  • Reels, Stories and TikTok: vertical, 9:16.
  • StudioOS makes all five shapes from the same photos, with the price and km you typed.

Questions

  • For a dealer, Kijiji: it has dealer accounts and inventory feeds, while a dealership’s Page can’t list cars on Marketplace. Private sellers can use both.

  • It’s built for car buyers, with 26 million monthly visits by its owner’s count in 2024, but dealer prices aren’t published. Ask for a quote and compare it with what a sale is worth to you.

  • Kijiji doesn’t publish dealer prices. Inventory feeds, bumps and a dealership page come with a dealer subscription.

  • Yes, and many dealers do. Keep the price and details the same everywhere, and take every listing down when the car sells.
